Anthem
Blue Cross Blue Shield has long been one of our most popular carriers.
Their TONIK 5000 plan offers extremely attractive rates
for people under age 30.
The
TONIK plan is very straight-forward. It is designed
for our younger clients, those under the age of 30. There is a deductible
of $5000, which is also your out-of-pocket maximum for a year, after which
the plan covers you at 100% for all covered procedures. You have four
doctors office visits at $20 per visit prior to meeting your deductible,
and ER visits in which you are not admitted are just $100.
Prescription
drugs are available at $10 for 30-day supply from retail pharmacy or $20
for up to 60-day supply through mail order. TONIK also
provides dental and vision coverage.
You'll pay $0 for cleanings, exams and X-rays. After you pay your $25 deductible,
you'll pay 20% for minor restorative procedures like fillings. TONIK
will pay up to $500/year for your dental benefits, and $50 towards a routine
eye exam, glasses or contact lenses.
You
guys have made a good effort to present a plan that is appealing to younger
people. Until now I have been frustrated by the high rates other insurance
companies charge. The rates for the Tonik Plan from Blue Cross
Blue Shield are very decent, it was very easy to sign up, and your customer
service is great. If I have the opportunity, I will definitely
recommend you to others. Lindsay

Rate
Information:
Rates
are very competitive for those in their 20s, and even for healthy
people in their 40s, 50s, and 60s. Rates can be
found by visiting the Tonik
Online site. Tonik is only available as an individual
plan. It will not cover dependents, so a husband and wife would have
to apply separately.
PPO
Network:
Tonik
health plans come with referral-free access to the largest PPO network
in Colorado, with nearly 8,500 health care providers and over 60 hospitals
throughout the state. Having access to the PPO network can mean substantial
discounts in what you pay for your health care, even before you meet
your deductible. The large list of doctors and hospitals can be viewed
at the Anthem
PPO Online Provider Directory. Make sure to choose the "BluePreferred
PPO" plan. Policyholders can go to Blue Cross doctors anywhere in the
country, and can even access a world-wide network.
Underwriting:
Underwriting
on these plans is very rapid, and you will often know the same day if you
have been accepted. Applying for coverage online
is easy, and only takes about 15 minutes to complete. Underwriting
for the Tonik plan is more strict than for other Anthem
Blue Cross Blue Shield plans.
Effective dates:
The
coverage can go into effect in as quickly as 24 hours, though you do risk
being declined if claims are submitted before the underwriting process is
completed. You may request an effective date any time the date after you
sign the application and 60 days later. Please note that you will be billed
starting on your requested effective date, even if you have not yet been
notified that you have been approved. This is very good for someone who
does not have any present coverage and would like for their benefits to
begin right away. For those who are already covered, it is suggested that
you maintain your current coverage in force until you have received notice
from either ColoHealth
or directly from Anthem that your coverage has been approved and
is in force.
Your
earliest possible effective date will be the day after Anthem has received
all the necessary documents and information needed to process your application.
